World Cup 2010: Italy will play against Paraguay on 14/06 20:30 in Cape Town

World Cup 2010 Italy vs. Paraguay. Paraguay’s profile. After putting together the best qualification crusade, they should think ahead on their fourth consecutive stint at the FIFA World Cup™ finals. It is supervised by Gerardo Martino the Argentinean coach. The present Albirroja team seems to have built up the improvement made by their previous team last 1998 at France and 2002 at Korea/Japan, where Paraguay was able to reach the 16th Round before being eliminated by France and Germany.
While sustaining the defensive standards set by Los GuaranĂes, they added an attacking style to their type of game thanks to their talented and powerful forwards with the capability to dislodge opposing rearguards. That new offensive threat can make the difference as Paraguay amends for their elimination in the first-round at Germany 2006. This was a setback that was experienced by some of the current squad members and would not like to repeat in South Africa.

http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/fifa/gen/fifa/20051202/i/38606068.jpgThis is the first time that the team was able to pass the 30-point barrier since the current qualifying system started. With it’s 10 wins, along with Chile, has the most in the group. They also garnered three draws and five losses and was able to collect 33 points overall to finish after Chile and Brazil. Martino’s squad sealed their way to the finals with a 1-0 win over Argentina last September in Asuncion, with a declaration on national holiday by President Fernando Lugo to celebrate the nation achievement.
Paraguay’s key to the impressive progress was their impressive form at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco, winning seven games in all. They only lost three on the road and got 12 points total. This record suggests that they could cause problems in the finals for their opponents.

Martino has access to the services of some internationally known players. A lot of them come from Europe and Mexico football clubs. While the team had good players in every area, the team’s biggest names are in the front line.

Roque Santa Cruz played in England with some successful seasons. His importance to the national team will be greatly needed despite his being absent from a lot of the qualifying games. Substituting all the way through were Nelson Haedo Valdez and Salvador Cabanas who added 11 goals between them. These three all played at Germany 2006 and the memories of their disappointing group-phase loss could trigger their goals in South Africa.

Gerardo Martino their coach is an Argentinean tactician who is now a stand out in the South American game. He is also named El Tata in the 1990s. He was also an attacking midfielder before shifting to coaching in 1998. After coaching a number of teams in his country, he switched to Paraguay. He took over Cerro Porteno then Libertad. This is where he got his greatest achievements at club level. Watch and enjoy the World Cup 2010 Italy vs. Paraguay.

http://usoccers.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/japan-world-cup-soccer-team.jpgWorld Cup 2010 Japan vs. Cameroon with Japan in prospective. Japan just happened to be one of the toughest team in the Asian football region, Japan, who won three of the last five championships of the AFC Asian Cup, have very high expectation for winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. This will be their fourth appearance at the global competition.
First on the list is an upgrade on the unsatisfactory performance at Germany 2006, when the Samurai Blue won 3-1 in their first hurdle and a reverse happened versus Australia, Croatia got a draw 0-0 and a loss with Brazil 4-1. Japan will face their first finals without Hidetoshi Nakata their iconic midfielder. The former Roma featured in each of the national games at France 1998, Korea/Japan 2002 and Germany 2006 before deciding to leave the game and retire, hang up his boots after the event at age 29.

Going to the road leading to South Africa, after comfortably reaching the final round of the Asian Zone qualifying for South Africa 2010, Japan got four, drew three and lost just one on their eight matches on Group 1. A 2-1 turn around in Australia and a heart breaking draw 0-0 at home versus the same teams were the draw back of the final phase, in spite of the fact that coach Takeshi Okada’s team was able to finish well clear of Qatar, Bahrain, and Uzbekistan in the five-team section.
http://www.rediff.com/sports/2000/sep/30soc1.jpgThe Japan star players are Shunsuke Nakamura a former Celtic playmaker, who in the summer 2009 made the swap from Glasgow to La Liga with Espanyol. Another European-based performer is Keisuke Honda young midfielder at Eredivisie outfit VVV Venlo and similar to Nakamura a gifted left-footer. Their leading from the back is Captain Yuji Nakazawa a 31-year-old defensive rock and who has over 90 senior caps to his credit is Japan’s entire time third-most capped player.

Their coach is National supremo Okada. He is far and wide taken into account to be one of the finest Japanese strategists of all time. He was at the driver seat during the Samurai Blue’s first appearance in FIFA World Cup at France 1998; he was able to successfully negotiate a complicated play-off meeting with Iran, and after that enjoyed spells at club level with Yokohama F Marinos and Consadole Sapporo.

The 53-year-old past international defender’s stint in Sapporo included stepping up the team from the second division into top flight. And the tactician led Marinos to successive J.League titles in 2003 and 2004. Having stepped away from his role in Yokohama in 2006, he took the load over the reins of the national team for a second time after a year when a stroke was suffered by Ivica Osim previous incumbent. Don’t fail to watch the World Cup 2010 Japan vs. Cameroon match.

England vs USA – World Cup 2010 Live Stream and Match Preview

FIFA World Cup 2010
Venue: Rustenburg

The big match of Group C gets underway Saturday when England take on USA in a battle between the teams widely expected to finish 1-2 in the Group.

USA's Landon Donovan has proven himself this yearThe England squad is packed with top class players, in particular Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, and midfielders Frank Lampard of Chelsea and Steven Gerrard of Liverpool.

http://beat.bodoglife.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/bodog-soccer-girls.jpgBut although the USA lacks the man for man quality of the English, they are not without players of skill and creativity themselves.

Midfielder Landon Donovan of the LA Galaxy is undoubtedly the most high profile of the Americans. His successful10 game loan to English Premier League club Everton earlier this year surely proved even to his most zealous detractors that he can compete among the top teams and players.

Striker Clint Dempsey, who plies his trade in England with Fulham, is another American whose talents are obvious. And goalkeeper Tim Howard has proven time and again that he is a fine stopper for his English club Everton.
Central defense: England and USA have problems in common
England central defender and captain Rio Ferdinand injured his knee on the training ground last week in what seemed an innocuous challenge. He was soon ruled out of the World Cup as a result and England boss Fabio Capello called up Tottenham’s Michael Dawson to replace him.

Despite a good season at the club level, Dawson lacks international experience and so the primary responsibilities for central defense will fall to Tottenham’s talented Ledley King. Though a fine defender, King is fragile, with chronic knee problems.
http://images.dailyradar.com/media/uploads/ballhype/photos_large/2008/05/28/Soccer_babes_England.jpgCentral defense is problematic for the USA too. Oguchi Onyewu of AC Milan is coming off a knee problem that has kept him out of the game since late last year. Only in recent weeks has “Gooch” started playing again and his lack of match fitness was initially clear. Still, he claims now to ready for 90 minutes against England. Whether his knee is ready only time will tell.
He’s a big lad, Onyewu, and his readiness for a physical battle may be tested if he has to face the likes of stout England striker Emile Heskey whose physical presence can be imposing. But Onyewu will likely find himself at a greater disadvantage against the pace of England’s small men, Rooney, Jermain Defoe, Aaron Lennon or Shaun Wright-Phillips.

A huge step for Argentina
http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/255/480/intro_display_image.jpg?1276274117Argentina's young promises which beat Nigeria two years ago will have to show how much they've grownArgentina has a clean sheet on its confrontations with African teams, having won 75% of the matches played against teams of the Black Country. Two years ago these two teams took on each other to define Beijing's Olympic Games, in which Argentina claimed the gold medal. This was a response to the Atlanta '96 match which ended with glory for Nigeria. Two years ago Angel Di Maria scored the winning goal, something he'll be looking forward to repeating for this world's debut.

Maradona has the team almost confirmed. Sergio Romero will be the man between the posts, and after having chosen four full-centrals to guard the back line, team's coach finally decided to force Jonas Gutierrez to lead Argentina's right band both in the attack and defense. Walter Samuel and Martin Demichellis will occupy the center of the area, with Nicolas Otamendi filling the last place. This is a classic 4-4-2 formation with a twist, for Gutierrez's versatility offers the team the opportunity to advance as a 3-3-2-2.

Javier Mascherano and Juan Sebastian Veron are the backbone of Argentina's midfield creation. Angel Di Maria is the bridge between them and Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain, top strikers in the Spanish league. By relegating Jonas Gutierrez to the defense Maradona frees another offensive place, which is occupied by Carlos Tevez for the moment: He is the striker with most experience in the National Team and people's favorite. Messi's lack of results have turned the Argentineans against him, and the pressure of having to make things right might be too much for such a young player.
Maradona's reactions always go beyond normalSaturday morning will have the Albiceleste with Maradona back in a world championship after more than a decade. Argentina's new generation will be welcomed in Africa by a team determined to retain what is theirs against the second most expensive formation in South Africa.

Life without Okocha

http://www.funny-football.co.uk/news/wp-content/uploads/nigeria.jpgLars Lagerback has already tasted Argentinean blood 8 years ago, when he eliminated the Albicelestes in 2002, back in his days as Swedish coach. This will be their fourth world championship, having missed the last World Cup for the first time in 16 years.

Nigeria responds to the classic African style: solid defenders in the middle of the field and strikers light as feathers. Victor Obinna was the captain in the last Olympic games, and he will probably by the offensive lighthouse to whom Peter Odemwingie and Obafemi Martins will subordinate. These three strikers have an insane speed and good definition, but their place will have to be carefully guarded, for there's only one survivor from the golden days in the squad in it's Nkankwo Kanu, whose technical superiority might completely turn a match around if given a change.

One of the toughest eagles, MartinsChelsea's John Obi Mikel is the key player in this team, for his position as defensive midfielder and his long field of view and witness creates a center from where creation can flow. Another player from the Premier League, Dickson Etuhu will contribute to Nigeria's ball flow. His good moment with Europa League's finalist Fulham City earned him a place in Lagerback's Nigeria.

Lagerback's assistant Roland Andersson warned Nigeria's coach about Argentina's weak spot: its defense. "We must defy Argentina and adopt an offensive position" regarding Albiceleste's attack, team's assistant recognized Argentina's lack of efficiency. Nigerian players appear also to be quite confident for this match, and the boost from defeating a giant could be enormous.

Murdered by numbers

Statistic show without a doubt a wide advantage for the American team, but these two formations had their problems from claiming their place in the championship to begin with, and thus nothing can be taken for granted. In fact, Nigeria played eight matches against these three rivals, and could only claim one victory. Argentina is not going through its best moment, but the weight of their figures will probably lean the game on Maradona's side, who faced these three rivals six times – five victories, one draw.

Korea Republic will play against Greece on 12/06 13:00 in Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabet

Korea Republic Favored To Win

http://londonkoreanlinks.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/park-500.jpgSouth Korea lost their last two friendly matches in the build up for their 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign. The Red Devils beat Asian rivals Japan on May 24 in a warm-up game. However, they stumbled against European minnows Belarus and European champions Spain on a 1-0 score line as they closed their preparations before travelling to South Africa.

But despite these latest miserable results, The Tigers of Asia remain favorites to clinch victory on Saturday, June 12. There are two reasons behind this thought. Firstly, South Korean supporters are confident that their team will raise their level of performance when it matters the most to prove that Asia has something to offer when it comes to football. Secondly, their Greek opponents presently don’t look that dangerous – neither in terms of form, nor in terms of results.

Besides, the Tigers of Asia have received a boost ahead of their 2010 World Cup opener on Saturday. Attacking-minded players Park Ji-Sung and Lee Dong-Gook are set to feature for their team and thus increase South Korea’s chances of securing a good result. Speaking to Korea Times about Park Ji-Sung’s condition, Coach Huh Jung-Moo declared:

“Park Ji-Sung is feeling fine. He felt a slight soreness on his hamstring; that is why we didn’t let him play in the friendly match against Spain.”

The Manchester United midfielder and Korea Republic captain is expected to strengthen his team’s spirit on the pitch and multiply his side's chances in attack. Lee Dong-Gook will create the perfect bond upfront should he shake off his injury worries and get into the game.

Lee Dong-Gook experienced a return to form last season with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, his new club. The former Middlesbrough and Werder Bremen front man scored 21 goals in the K-league, helping his side to claim the competition’s title as he emerged as the top scorer. About the 32-year-old striker, Coach Huh Jung-Moo revealed to the-afc.com:

“Lee has improved a lot. He may even get a little playing time during Group B’s opening match between Korea Republic and Greece.”

However, there are doubts over their inclusion in Greece’s lineup for the game against Korea Republic this weekend. Both players lack of match fitness as a result of their irregular first team appearances in club football.

Consequently, Coach Otto Rehhagel may have to look at other options for his starting XI sheet ahead of Greece’s 2010 World Cup opener against Greece. Adding to this concern is the confirmed exclusion of key defender Vangelis Moras from Saturday’s clash. Subsequent to an injury he sustained during training earlier in June, Moras was expected to recover in time to play for his country on June 12.
This couldn’t happen though, and Vangelis Moras commentated on his own status, stating:

“I am not ready. There’s no need to take a risk. It would be too risky to do that [play] in such a crucial match. I will now try to get fit for the second game against Nigeria.”

Greece will come up against Africa’s Super Eagles at 14:00 GMT on June 17 whereas South Korea will play against Argentina earlier at 11:30 GMT on the same day.

FIFA World Cup 2010

http://www.livesoccertv.com/euro-2008/images/teams/netherlands.jpgThis is part of the World Cup 2010 Netherlands vs. Denmark; Netherlands Profile. The Oranje aims high for their match in South Africa, 32 years ago from a 3-1 extra-time loss from Argentina, which happened four years on from a 2-1 final loss from West Germany. Since coach Rinus Michels retired as its pioneer, a lot of players followed Johan Cruyff generation that did not even advance to the final hurdle, but one managed to get the European title in 1988. Known as spectacular but fragile, this team hope to wipe out this image. Now, under Bert van Marwijk, who carried out the challenge after their disappointing UEFA EURO 2008 campaign.

He and his players this time around have history on their side. West Germany in 1982, was the last team to reach FIFA World Cup™ finals without dropping a single point in the qualifying round and went on to contest the final. The present Oranje vintage are very vocal on their ambitions. Netherlands got eight straight games. The Van Marwijk era proved to be a great one so far leading the team on the top of Group 9.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/worldcup/2010/christian-poulsen.jpgTheir coach is not the most prestigious player during his time, he had collected only one international cap, the father in law of Mark van Bommel has had more success in the dugout. He showed especially brighter at Feyenoord that led the Rotterdam team to the UEFA Cup championship in 2002 before winning the Dutch crown when he returned after a two-year in Germany. Calm, discrete and very approachable, the 56-year-old coach believes that it is vital to befriend his players and said that an international coach has little time to work with his team. In luau of this, he wants to spend more time with his players, especially during training and exercises to know them better. Although this style is very different from his predecessor, Marco van Basten, their tactics are very similar. Marco implements a 4-2-3-1 formation in place, and the players are used to it and he intends to stick to it. Being aided by Phillip Cocu a former stalwarts and Frank de Boer role as the assistant coach, Van Marwijk’s record is above reproach up to now.
They have several star players like Edwin van der Saar and Ruud van Nistelrooy who have had time on their international careers. Van Marwijk tried to integrate his own style to the heart of the players he got from Van Basten, without making a lot of changes. Now, the new key men are Arjen Robben, Andre Ooijer, Mark van Bommel, Dirk Kuyt, Joris Mathijsen, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, they now have a considerable playing time under their trainer. While Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder, Nigel De Jong and Robin van Persie are still closely involved. The other articles will feature Denmarks profile in the World Cup 2010 Netherlands vs. Denmark.

World Cup 2010: Germany will play against Australia on 13/06 20:30 in Durban
http://www.spiegel.de/img/0,1020,1175194,00.jpgWorld Cup 2010 Germany vs. Australia, their match will take place on 2010-06-13 16:00 where the two teams will be playing against each other for the victory of Group D, 1st match. The match stadium will take place on Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban that is just newly built in 2009 with a capacity of 70,000.

A home game versus Australia will be Germany’s first assignment in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, as the game will be played in Durban at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. The last time Australia played in the World Cup was back in 2006, when they advanced into the competitions last 16 stages, only for Italy to win against them with a score of 1-0, it followed a controversial penalty given to the reigning champion. In this event, the Australians are surely not ready to experience such a bitter moment once more. As these controversial events occur in Germany, the Oceanic giants will unleash their anger on their German opponents on June 13 2010.

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/sports/2006-05/24/xin_4905032411468962784413.jpgDue to their high position in the FIFA World Rankings in November 2007, Germany was seeded in Pot A in advance of the drawing for the First Round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup’s qualifiers. The other teams in Pot A were France, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Greece; and as a result, these were top teams the Germans did not expect to battle in their table. The First Round draw for the matches happened on the 25th of November 2007, in the city of Durban, South African. It was the same time that Azerbaijan, Russia, Wales, Finland, and Liechtenstein, along with Germany achieved the European Group 4 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Germans first game was played on the 6th of September 2008 at the Rheinpark Stadium in Liechtenstein and naturally, the DFB-Eleven destroyed the home side 6-0 to get three first points, in add an outstanding goal difference.
Germany experienced a harder second game against Finland with a 3-3 draw away to the Olympia stadium.

Russia lead by Guus Hiddink failed to defeat the Germans on match day 3 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, loosing by a score of 2-1, away from home.

Five goals and a clean sheet going into their next two games against Wales and Liechtenstein ensured them an unbeaten run in the qualifiers, before two successive 2-0 wins versus the Welsh and Azerbaijan these made the Germans into an invincible side. The next games ended with 4-0 and 1-0 in favor of the former World Cup hosts, as the European giants earned six more points to secure their place at the top of their table. But Germany missed their chances of getting the perfect end to their qualifiers, because they were not able to beat Finland after a 1-1 home draw. Watch the World Cup 2010 Germany vs. Australia and see if they Germany still have the power to win.
