After not being in the high light for six-year, Danish Dynamite will explode on the football world scene. The Scandinavians did not make it on Germany’s 2006 FIFA World Cup™ and in Austria and Switzerland’s UEFA EURO 2008, but the FIFA founding members made an impressive trail going to South Africa next summer.

The Danes will look to extend their creditable record at three preceding finals appearances, where they manage to play up to the 16th Round twice and one quarter-finals. Denmark’s first stint was in 1986 in Mexico, where they advanced up to the last sixteen. The core group of the team registers the nation’s greatest foot ball triumph in Sweden in the 1992 UEFA European Championship crown.
Their long nonappearance from the major league will soon end, captain Jon Dahl Tomasson and his team is determined to make their presence felt in South Africa. If coach Morten Olsen is spared the injury that haunts to derail their campaign, their squad will be a great bet for an upset or shock in South Africa.

Their highlights included a 3-2 win and 1-1 draw with the Portuguese Selecção das Quinas. The Danes made convincing team performances and took four points off the group favorite and earn a decisive advantage. The Lisbon crucial win featured an impressive three goals in the last ten minutes. Denmark also beat rivals Sweden, home and away by only one goal on both games.

The key players of Denmark are picked from big-name European clubs that include Liverpool, Werder Bremen, Juventus and Arsenal. The National captain Tomasson is now leading the Feyenoord forward line after a spells with Villarreal and AC Milan.

Olsen’s nucleus of players with broad international experience includes midfield trio Daniel Jensen (Bremen), striker Nicklas Bendtner (Arsenal), defender Daniel Agger (Liverpool), Christian Poulsen (Juventus) and Dennis Rommedahl (Ajax).

Their coach Morten Olsen will be completing a ten year stint as Denmark head coach in the South Africa finals. He took over the control in 2000, leading the Danish Dynamite to the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2004. He has not yet said anything about his contract extension that is going to expire at the end of the 2010 tournament.
